What's your dream job?

Hayy, Friday Payday! Where else will you find all working class of the society during this day? Yup.. the ATM is the place to be. And before going home, I went to a nearby machine expecting that there will be less people then since it was already 8 p.m. But didn’t expect too much, and true enough there was about 15 people on line and as I went my way to the ATM.. I said to my self “this will take a little bit longer than I was hoping for” since 2 other people fall in the line. So I decided to turn on the radio in my cellpone and put on the headset. After surfing for the right frequency, I came across this 2 announcer reading some sms messages from their listeners. The show was called “Talk Back” where they read on air the reply of their listeners on their topic. And the topic that night was “What are your top 5 dream job”. It was interesting to hear other people’s dream job. Others what to be a Pilot, a Masseur for the stars, racing car/motorcycle driver, writer, Film Producer, Photographer for FHM and Playboy, an astronaut, Rock Star et al. Obviously, based on the kind of response the read on air, majority of their audience at the time are male or probably more of the male species responded than the women. And guess what the # 1 dream job of men is to be a Photographer (whether for FHM, Playboy or National Geographic, the anchor didn’t care to mention).

And while listening to this station (its 103.5 K-lite by the way) it made me think what my top 5 dream jobs are? Well here the are, not in particular order:

1. Animator for Pixar

2. Host of Discovery’s Travel & Adventure Channel

3. Photographer for National Geographic

4. Formula 1 Driver for Team Ferrari /Mclaren Mercedes

5. Writer ala Carrie Bradshaw

30 minutes after, it was my turn to get my hard earned money in the ATM.. headed to the grocery afterwards to by some personal necessities and off to ride the MRT to get me home.

My first trip abroad

...and its company paid with pocket money..say mo?! The best things in life are really for free. It's one of the best perks I love when your in sales... hit the target and expect to be rewarded. In 2004 the company went to HK and even shared the tour bus with the Sex Bomb Girls of Eat Bulaga.

More photos at the gallery. Here are just some of them.

Busy as a Bee

I went straight to client today, Johnson & Johnson to be exact. This account will soon be transferred to me when our team leader (Camille) leaves the company for her pilgrimage to France and Portugal ( Our Lady of Lourds and Our Lady of Fatima).

Met her at McCafé along Quezon Avenue. While waiting for her, bought myself a cup of  café latte. To my surprise, the taste wasn’t so bad  at all (it was my first time to buy coffee here), btw McCafé is managed by Mc Donald’s. Anyway, off we went to Paranaque (ang layo kaya!). We left at 8:30 a.m. and arrived at 10 in J&J (Camille’s not a dumb driver to take EDSA during rush hour, so we took the C5 route). No, traffic was not horrible it’s just too far away from Quezon City. And our meeting took only 20 minutes (hahaha! Travel time to and from was longer than the actual meeting).

As I entered the office, saw Kim updating her photo album online.. finally uploading her pictures from her 2003 trip to Thailand and trip to HK early this year and other pics of the A-Holics’ trip to Bicol and Puerto Galera.. why did I mention this? Because she was using my computer...talking about major over boarding! HAHAHA!
The rest of the afternoon was busy as a bee can be. Today is our cut-off so all sales should be declared and submitted to accounting. Since I’m still behind of my target by 7% so I was on the phone for half a day… At the end of the day, I’m 104% above target...satisfied  with the result, I ended my day here in the office writing this blog.

Broken hearted fan on a rainy day

It turned out to be a rainy Saturday but this didn’t hold me back from doing the laundry. After doing my chores, I’m so indolent to do anything in this gloomy weather. So I took my Harry Potter (book 5), fixed a cup of chamomile tea and sat in the living room with my legs curled up on the couch. Imagining myself alone in a cottage house in front of a fireplace with dim lights on all corners of the house and a single lampshade that gives enough light for my reading eyes.

As I continue with my reading.. engross on Harry’s mishaps, I was feeling the effect of my favorite tea…. defying the heaviness of my eyelids, I kept on reading and the next thing I knew, my body was aching due to my position and stared momentarily at the clock which says 7:13 p.m. (Gosh, I dozed off for 3 hours already).. After a few seconds (realizing one of my favorite series is on at 7p.m.), jump off the couch and run up stairs to the den and turned on the TV.. One Three Hill is on at ETC (cable). Had dinner afterwards.

My fiancé called to tell my brother and me that F1 Qualifying is on (German Grand Prix). And so we watch.. praying that my favorite and beloved driver, Kimi Raikkonen of Mclaren Mercedes Team would be in pole position for tomorrow’s race. But instead he will start the race 3rd position on the grid and that’s not the worst of it… I also heard the commentator mentioned during his qualifying run that he’s getting married next week!!! They even joked that if the priest asks Kimi “ will you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife”.. He’ll answer” You better ask my team mates”… I can’t believe my ears.. I even went online and search on Google for related news about it but to no avail. Another broken hearted fan I am, (my first broken heart as a fan was when Andre Agassi married Brooke Shields) But I guess it wasn’t meant to be… though I still wish him luck for tomorrow’s race.

Weekends in 1983

Hurray! It’s Friday again and you look forward to a relaxing and stress-free weekend right? We’ll sorry to say that will not be the case for me this weekend. Got a take home assignment to do, Impact Needs Analysis. Wait a minute... Don’t ever think that I’m still in college. I’m already 26 years old (for heaven’s sake!)… and engaged! Anyway, aside from this assignment, I need to do my weekly report for our Monday meeting. Grrrr! I hate bringing work at home!(but had no choice). Plus the chores that needs to be done (cleaning my room, the house, laundry, the dishes). This is not my idea of a relaxing weekend.

Whatever happened to those Saturdays and Sundays where you don’t think of anything aside from being with friends outside the house, playing in the street until its time for lunch and take a siesta and back in the streets again to get your hands and feet dirty from playing your favorite games (patentero, tumbang preso, pepsi-seven up, langit lupa, agawan base, luksong tinik, taguan, step no-step yes, piko et al.) and back for dinner and sleep your way to Sunday?

Sigh…wish it was 1983 again…the age of innocence. Those where the good days, not worrying about work, bosses, money, bills, exchange rate, gasoline etc. If I were to be given a chance to go back in time… I’ll chose this year. How about you?

Hiatus

I’m back! After 2 days of hiatus from this blog. Not because I was busy or anything but because I was creating a new blog ;-) which will give you an in-depth look on how I’m going to make my dream wedding a reality (with the help of my fiancé of course).

Its every woman’s dream to walk down the aisle  and see her prince charming waiting for her at the end of it with all her family and friends as witnesses to this enchanting moment. I’m having  mix emotions .. I’m excited and anxious and happy and sad all at the same time.. could this be possible? Or am I going out of my mind?

I can’t wait to get this party startin’ ( Pink's song is playing on my head). My fiancé and I are scheduled to meet with our wedding coordinator, Ezra  who happens to have a very kind heart for doing this for free :-)(God bless her!) probably 2 weeks from now. So by then, my attention will be doing blog for The True Wedding Story so do check it out once in a while.

Coz there's something in the way you look at me; It's as if my heart knows you're the missing piece; You make me believe that there's nothing in this world I can't be; I'd never know what you see; But there's something in the way you look at me. - Excerpt from Christian Baustista’s Song The Way you Look at Me.

My Engagement

Woke up today not expecting any significant event to happen in my life, though my boyfriend told me yesterday that he had a surprise for me. I'm excited to start my day. I was in a hurry to get out of the house for I don't want to be late for my yoga class (I'm into hatha yoga these days). And when I arrived in the gym, Maya was reading an article posted at the door of Gold's Gym. Apparently our yoga instructor, Pio is not yet around. Still we started at exactly 8:30 am. During our yoga class, we were ask to get a partner, and of course who else would I choose but Maya. And since we were one of the first students in his class (I don't want to use the word veteran, we're merely in between beginner and intermediate) Pio asked us to demonstrate to everyone a pose called pashchimottanasana  (seated forward bend). Don't really get excited when I'm asked to do something for a crowd.. but we still did it anyway. After doing my usual program in the gym, I was off to meet my boyfriend, Adrian.

Called him in his mobile to tell him that I’m on my way to meet him in Makati but he insisted that I go to his apartment and wait for him there. He’ll order some take out for us. Of course I arrived first and Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix was there to accompany me while I was waiting for him. He arrived after 20 minutes and  kissed me hello ...of course I kissed back (duh?!) But my hungry stomach was in no mood for chit-chat so I took our take-out ( 2 cesar salads and 1 bacon cheese burger and 1 spicy chicken fillet sandwich) and set them up in the table. We ate and talk (forgot already what about). I asked him what his surprise was and initially he doesn’t want to divulge any information because his surprise is not yet complete…but I was insisting on him to tell me what’s the surprise ( I can  be persistent as hell if I want to be :) ).. So he finally gave in and told me that he went to Glorietta, Greenbelt and even went to Pasay Road to look for white Tulips but to no avail. You could see the disappointment in his eyes. I told him that its ok, and it doesn’t matter.. we can use the money allotted for the Tulips for food ( I’m a capricorn and we're known to be practical people and food is better than flowers, for me that is) . Well anyway, He confirmed again if its ok.. so after assuring him that its ok, he went to his room and after a few seconds.. he’s already on bended knee and asking me “will you marry me?”..I can’t believe my eyes.. ( the rock is bigger than I was expecting it to be).. oppss.. too excited about the ring..hehhehe..Of course I said “Yes, I will marry you”. Kissed him and kissed him some more and we hugged. I removed the ring on my finger ( he gave that ring Christmas of 2001) and he put the engagement ring on my left ring finger. Etched on the ring: Shiena, my light, my love - Ian. I'm so happy and I feel like I'm the luckiest woman alive at that moment. I still couldn’t believe my eyes.. I kept looking at it.. I asked.. "how many carat is this"…”secret” is what he replied.. What?? I need to know .. my friends are gonna ask me that and what will I tell them? And as truthful as he always is, he told me its .35 carat and 14K white gold band. BTW, what he plans to do with the Tulips was.. He’ll put the ring inside one of the tulip buds and give them to me. (ahhh, how sweet!)

After the proposal, we watched 13 going on 30 ( I love Jennifer Garner though the movie is a so..so) and went to church afterwards… unfortunately the day ended with us being drenched  because of the downpour.. probably because we sang Lead Me Lord together during the communion… what a blessing!? hehehe!

Lying in bed, still can’t believe my eyes.. I kept looking at it every now and then. I can’t imagine being engaged .. When I was young, I imagined getting engaged, walking down the isle and having children. Now I’m done with the getting engage part… its time to prepare for the walking down the isle.

Dilemma

Where to eat? That's our dilemma. Its 11:30 am and still we have not decided where to eat. Every Friday we eat out - in a restaurant and since yesterday was payday we should treat ourselves to something nice and serves delicious food... so where? where? WHERE?!

Belly Dancing

After two months of persuasion by my gym buddies, I have finally made it to my first belly dancing class. And guess what? I’m 30 minutes late.. class started at 7a.m. Honestly, I’m really not a morning person. I’m a sleep-aholic (and proud of it!). Well, just like any other ” first day of class”, I’m the only one who couldn’t get  the moves right (as far as I’m concerned that is). Laughing at myself for every mistake I made but nevertheless, I had fun :)

After belly dancing, I get to spend some quality time with my gym-aholic buddies in the steaming room and chatted about everything as well as She Who Must Not Be Named.

The essential question right now would be, will I be able to continue what I started? My answer is.. I will ( I hope).. so help me God!

Reference Check

It was my first time to do a reference check on an applicant from her previous employers. I came to realize that your references in your resume should be both credible and you had good working relationship with that person because this will make or break your chances of getting hired... Now what I need to do is edit my resume ;) want to know whose in my reference list? never mind , you don't want to know. hahahha!
