No Internet Connection

staying a home with no internet connection on a long weekend is not a very good idea. It’s dragging and frustrating. I had nothing else to do at home, besides being a couch potato. I wished I had a good book that I can read but unfortunately friends borrowed all books that I recently bought. I've never expected to actually spend more than a hundred (100) hours on the internet in less than a month! Well of course, I didn’t consume all. probably just 80% of it and 20% was probably used by my brother... or maybe its 90 /10. Can't wait for Dec 1, so my connection would be reactivated by the internet provider.

So here's my unsolicited advise : If your a blog-a-holic (like me) its best if you blog in the office or get unlimited internet connection at home so you won't miss a day of blogging.

Sunday's Post

after my 3 sundays absence in yoga, I've finally woke up early to attend the class. Thanks to Maya, I had company. Though we are many in the class (about 15 more or less), its still nice to have a friend around. Pio, our instructor, have asked us to do the shoulder stand (the mother pose of asanas)... with a variation of the plough. I'm so excited to do this for it has been quite sometime since we last did this asana. After yoga, we're too relaxed to do any workout so maya and I decided to hit the sauna and shower and have a cup of coffee at starbucks.

Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana)

Plough Pose (Halasana)

In starbucks, I orderd Toffe Nut Latte (highly recommended by Maya). I know (when it comes to coffee) I could never doubt her judgment. And true enough, that coffee was superb..you can really taste and smell the toffee :) We both had a nice time, chatting and laughing altogether.

After coffee, went to our separate ways. I went to my fiancé’s apartment and bought chicken inasal for lunch and Maya went to meet her parents in Glorietta. While waiting for Adrian to finish his laundry and bath, I updated my weblog with a message board (by tagboard.com)

Took this picture while waiting for the spin dryer to stop.

We went to Glorietta, and watch National Treasure, starring Nicholas Cage. Its a very entertaining film, its like watching Indian Jones in an episode of the Amazing Race. We planned to watch Alexander after hearing mass but after having a hearty dinner at Choices, we both feel bloated and decided to go home.

Korean wave in PH television

After the chinovelas (Chinese tele-novela) reign the Philippine primetime television last year, now it’s the Koreanovelas (Korean tele-novela) turn to invade our household every night.

I am one of the million viewers who were bitten by the Meteor Garden Fever (which includes my mom), now I’m hooked to Lovers in Paris. Released in Korea via Arirang TV and ABS-CBN here in the Philippines, Lovers in Paris is a usual scenario of a fairy tale, where a damsel in distress is saved by her prince charming but in this fairy tale, the story is conveyed through a romantic comedy setting. The actors are funny and are very good at it. Main actors are Park shin-yang, Lee dong-gun and Kim jung-eun.

The kind prince and the naïve and innocent Cinderella, what will the ending be? Will they have a happily ever after? I don’t know and I don’t want know (at this time). I want to have something to look forward to every night.

Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason

Adrian and me only planned to have dinner after office and head home. But when I mentioned that Bridget Jones’ Diary part 2 is already showing in Glorietta, impulsively, he decided that we hurry up with our Tonkatsu and Maki so we can catch the 8pm show time…He’s actually curious what happened to Bridget and Human Rights Lawyer Mark Darcy. Hehehhe..He’s such a cutie :)

Anyway, so we made it to the screening just in time. Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason is actually a continuation of its early release. Funnier? YES! Definitely funnier than the first one (at least for me). The scenes in their ski trip were the funniest of all. I was even curling in my seat because my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. I really enjoyed this film. It’s very entertaining, wittier, sweet and lovely.

I just love British comedy. Even if it’s a comedy film, they still able to show sophistication, intelligence and finesse. It’s also probably because of the lovely accent, which I also absolutely adore.

Flashback: I remember those two cute freckled little boys at the back of my seat on my way to Hong Kong. They’re talkative, very much, they talk and talk all throughout the flight. I usually get irritated because of the noise but the funny thing was, I’m actually entertained by these 2 brothers (aged between 5-7 I think) hearing their British accent, it felt like I was in a train with Harry Potter and Ron Wesley on our way to Hogwarts. Hehhehe, It was a fun ride, that was my consolation for not seating with my friends.

I hope someone will be interested to make a film based on another book(with a British heroin of course). The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella (Confessions of a Shopaholic, Shopaholic takes over Manhattan and Shopaholic Ties the knot). I love these books! Who do you think fits the role of Rebecca Bloomwood?

My favorite word today is : LOVELY! (with a British accent ala Bridget Jones)

Acoustic Break at the Red Door

A Friday night out! It’s been a while since my a-holic friends get together for a gimmick. But last night, when Kim’s little brother’s band, Mute Madness had a gig, we decided to throw in our 10 cents worth of support. It was fun. We laughed, joked and sang along with the band. We even won a cd and a poster of the Acoustic Break album.

I just love listening to songs that are played acoustically. All natural sound of guitar, or any musical instrument whose sound is not electronically modified [as defined by Mr. Webster]. With this on the background and friends holding a bottle of beer and eating loads of nachos...its absolute fun and relaxing.

A little bit of a history, Acoustic Break is actually a contest that a radio station DWTM started. And the entire finalist of the contest recorded an album entitled: Acoustic Break. This was originally just a get together of the bands and the DJs but then they decided to get sponsors and make this into a gig. Bands in the album include: Mute Madness, Migs, Jaycie & Honey, Mac, and Project Fusion. My favorite songs on the album are:

[01] Come to my Window

[02] Slide

[03] Galileo

[04] Good Enough

[05] Ordinary

[06] I Didn’t know I was Looking for Love

[07] Let it Be

[08] Every Little Thing He Does Is Magic

[09] ‘Di Mo Man Hanapin

[10] Everybody Wants to Rule the World

[11] Love Song for No One

[12] Complication Simplified

[13] Easy

[14] Least Complicated

[15] Friends

We left Red Door around 1 a.m.

Till our next jammin' guys... looking forward to our out of town trip on December 10.. We're heading up to the mountains. Don't forget your sweaters and jackets. Its pretty cold in Baguio.

guardian angels

do you believe in guardian angles? I do. Each one of us are born with a guardian angel. a protector, a guide, a safe keeper. they sometimes work with our conscience, they also use other people to work their way through us. their purpose? To help us accomplish our life's purpose.

I know for a fact that I got myself a hard working and excellent guardian angel. for 26 years, I've never had an accident even though I commute for as long as I can remember, never admitted in a hospital for a serious injury or ailment , was never mugged by robbers even though I go home at 2-3'o clock in the morning. Lucky? Some will say that. But I believe it's more and much bigger than luck. It's faith.

An infinite THANK YOU to you, my guardian angel for keeping me safe and sound, day and night.

Charmed episode 141 "Someone to Witch Over Me" inspired me to post this entry. In this episode, Paige lost her Guardian Angel.

waiting...hope not in vain

It has been a week since I took the exam at a multinational company for a job vacancy. but until now, I have not yet received any feedback. they should have replied already on the results last tuesday but I don't know what's keeping them from getting back at us. I hope they'll be professional enough to send even a regret letter. But I'm still keeping my hopes of getting hired.

on the other hand, I got a bad news via email that the recuitment manager of my favorite client resigned already. To tell you the truth, I was actually hoping that she can be my ticket to land a job in the company. But now, seems like a hazy cloud just went over that possibility.

Are these signs? That, I'm not yet done with this company? That I need to stay here until the 1st Q of next year? To deal with "MAX" for another 120 days is torture! hypocrisy is gonna eat me alive!

Please, I don't want to wait in vain.

10 things I Love about you

for the november collaboration project of rice bowl journals:

1. Every time he baby talks to me and keeping the kid in me alive.

2. When he sleeps and cuddles with "bebe" pillow every night.

3. When he cooks for me when I visit him at his apartment.

4. The way he kisses my hand, forehead, cheeks, ear, lips, eye, hair and temple.

5. His patience and understanding of my shortcomings.

6. Those sweet little things that he do or say that gives a tingling sensation in my spine, my "kilig" moments.

7. How he can make me laugh naturally, effortlessly.

8. He loves what I love, he likes what I like, and he befriends my friends but still keeps his individuality.

9. He lifts me up when I'm down and encourage me when nobody believes in me.

10. Because he completes me, he is my center; I'm hollow without him.

Blogging the Holiday Away

Nothing much to do because today is another non-working holiday for me. So what do I do? I surf . decided to do some modification on my blogspot.

I was surfing some blogsites from my newfound online community (need I mention rice bowls community again?) So anyhow, I noticed most of them have tag boards, track backs (which Fritz insists to have this feature in our blogs), guestbook etc. If they have it, why can't I?

And so the search began...I check on Blogger Knowlege and Blogger Help so I can be given some blogger101. Aside from getting the suggestions that I need and the sites that I need to go to, I also learned about The United Federation of Bloggers. And thats not all.. they have a part two on this. I felt like I was in a galactic era of Star Trek once again.

Anyway, going back to my mission to modify my weblog, I registered to site meter so I can track the hits of my site. And guess what... i already got 9 visitors. I can't believe people I don't know actually visit the site... I also added a guest book, which have a cute link just above the blogger link. Do visit my guest book ok? will be checking that often. Aside from the guest book, I rearrange the "Worth a Click" portion. I removed the yahoo photos since I want this space to just be blogs of friends and link backs. So I uploaded this cartoon camera which links to my photo album. And the template? yup its new again, actually I just changed it to the previous template. the "all white and grey" feeling. Why? I wanted it to look clean and dainty.

Now there! I'm done. So come and click on my guest book and tell me what u think?

Problem Fixed and Fixing a Problem

gosh, this is the 2nd consecutive sunday that I didn't woke up early to attend my yoga class. Probably its because of the cool breeze of the december air that keeps me sleeping soundly even though the sun is up and awake already. so nice to cuddle with a cold and fluffy pillow, imagining that I'm hugging my bebe... enough of this, (I tell myself) I can hug him later - in person.

Got up, took a quick bath and headed to the gym, since i'm already so late to attend yoga, I just spent an hour on the machines and a few minutes in the sauna. Such a relaxing ritual and one of the reasons why I go to the gym..hehehhe.

I'm all freshly showered and while I was blow drying my hair, I felt uncomfortable about this zit on my face. Lower left cheek beside the nose. yup, its part of my t-zone and a focal point where you feel people are staring at you but not really because they are looking at the zit. i told myself that I need to fix this today if I want this to go away before my client call on Wednesday. I can hear Baet in my subconscious, "isang araw, bibili rin nyan si shiena". referring to the Tea Tree Oil that Maya bought a few weeks ago. But I had no choice, I need to buy that blemish stick from The Body Shop or else this freakin' zit might not go away.

And so after paying my cellphone and telephone bills, I headed to The Body Shop. went straight to pick up the tea tree oil blemish stick and off I go to the counter to pay... oh no, but the shopaholic in me is starting to gain power over my self-control not to shop anymore (at least for this month) due to my previous credit card purchases. But I'm not listening, I moved across the shop and sprayed some perfume and body mist testers. I reminded myself that the Jasmine Body Spray from Bath and Body that Ate Christine gave to me is nearly empty. Thus, its no longer an indulgence, it became a necessity. Hah! justified that one :)

But what I hate about myself is that I'm easily lured to something I don't plan on buying. handed in my master card, the lady in the counter told me about a promo.. Oh no! just say no! is what I heard myself say...Then she said her spiel. "get the lip gloss for only 95 pesos". She showed my some shades and I heard myself say "is there a pink shade?" Oh no! here I go again.. and you guess it right, I bought the lip gloss too...my justification? my lip gloss is near empty as well. Oh God Forgive me!

Take out from Bacolod Chicken Inasal is our lunch. A hearty meal with my fiance after gym and my unintentional shopping spree. Before watching Charmed (ep 7 of the new season), I told adrian about my new online community, the RBJ and told him about my difficulty to upload my photo. and after a few try, he finally fixed it and uploaded my pic online... ahhh! another advantage of having a techie person as your fiance. hehehehe!

And so after charmed, we went to Tipid PC office so he can submit his application as a premium member. Had meryenda at McDonald's (he bought me a happy meal with a toy from the incredibles, Jack Jack and Violet). Went to hear mass at Greenbelt and ate dinner at Subway.
He took me home and listen to my new 2.1 speakers (which he won for being the KHAN player of the week).

Thanks Erwin for sharing this.

excitement turned frustration

Finally, its official! I'm now a member of the RBJ with ID # 834. I got the good news this morning when I went to read my email. Excited to be part of the community, I immediately updated my password and uploaded my picture. But for some unexplained reasons, I could not upload my photo. I did everything that was ask of my photo, must be black and white, 75 x 65 pixels size, in jpeg format and no animation. I opened my photoshop 7.0 and edited 2 different photos.. tried each one and still nothing! It's so frustrating. I can always think of something when something goes wrong with any of my online xtra curricular activities. WHY can't i fix this one!

With no resolution in mind, I sent an email to carlos (aka: randomguru, he's the sender of the email from rbj) and told him about my frustration. until now, after 6 hours of being online... i'm still thinking of ways to fix my picture online.

Hayy... this is a bummer.

6 years after my college final exam

Today, I thought I was in reverie. Questionnaire in my left and an answer sheet in my right. It has been more than 6 years since I was in this same situation but this time in a different scenario. My graduation doesn’t depend on it, rather its more important than that. It’s the future of my career, the assurance of my survival in this world. (that’s the drama queen in me talking).

Anyhow, as I open the folder, the first 10 questions were math problems. Oh no! I don’t hate math, I just don’t like them without a calculator. And so it began… panic crept in when the proctor said that we should be already past half page of the questionnaire, if not we are taking so much time in 1 question. And at that time I was just in # 36 out of #115 questions. I had no choice but to skip those math questions and proceed to logic and English. I eventually finish before the time is up so I went back to my unanswered math questions and just guessed the answers.

After the battery of test, Essay was our next challenge. It was not as easy as it sounds and I don’t want to elaborate. After almost 2 hours of exam, we were told that the results would be emailed to us tomorrow or on Tuesday. Until then, I just need to believe in divine interventions and pray for miracles because I’m absolutely no sure if I did good or not.

After a draining exam, my friends and me went to Glorietta to eat and restore our energy.

My fiancé and I agreed to meet in the mall to watch The Incredibles. And the movie was such a great idea after a draining exam. It was such a great and funny movie…though this is the last movie under Disney’s Production, I know Pixar will be able to stand alone in their future films since they already have excellent animation credentials in their portfolio including my favorites: Monster’s Inc and Finding Nemo…oh and did I say the movie was great?

Let the hunt begin

Last night, I sent out my resume to 2 companies. Praying that they'd take notice of my profile and contact me soon. I don't want it to be like other resumes that gets piled up in a tray, dusty and all.

As I came in the office today, I checked my email immediately. Eager to see a reply from either one of my prospects. But my heart sank when I didn't see any new mail. Oh well, may be later. I was optimistic and praying that the email will arrive. I checked my email every 30 minutes.

I'm no longer in the mood to work. Today, most of it was extra curricular activities. A little bit of work here and there.. say 20%. And the 80% was focused to blogging.

A co-worker had an issue of Gadgets Mag in his table and showed me an article on Blogs and Wikis. Now I know the history of blogs (which is slang for Web Logs..thus the name bLogs). I also read about a community of asian bloggers, Rice Bowl Journals. It was very interesting and I decided to join and register. Now, I'm just waiting for the confirmation email that I'm eligible to be part of this community...I'm still waiting.

And finally before I get to end my day at work, I checked my email again.. and there it was..the reply that I was waiting for since the time I sent the email. A good news! I'm invited to go to their office tomorrow and take the exam. Oh yes, this is it!

And I thought that's the end of it but it wasn't. Atfer my Yoga class, I checked my mobile and saw 2 missed calls. I checked the number and its from the other prospect. So I called her number and she told me that she already endorsed my resume to the Int'l Recruitment Manager and that she'll call me with in the week to do a pre-interview. How's that to end my day!

choices we have to make

In our lives, we have to make a lot of choices. Everyday we make them, every minute every second there are choices that we make. Whether our choices are absurd or important, they make a difference in our lives. At this moment, I'm at a point of making a choice, a choice that could change my life (for the better I hope). a career change? greener pastures?.

I chatted with an old friend from high school that I haven't seen for almost a decade. We were talking about making a career change. He asked me if I'm happy.. I told him that, "the only motivation that keeps me going to the office everyday are my friends"... Yes, I'm happy... but not contented. I'm happy because I have the chance to be with my friends... other than that, its just emptiness.

Maya said that you just need to decide and make the choice and everything will come in to place. Now, its time. I've made a choice and I just need to make the corporate world know that I'm ready for their challenge. I need a one month notice though :)

busy tuesday for a shopaholic

My 2 shopaholic office cubiclemates, Kim and Maya are both on leave today. thus, im not just alone but busy,busy,busy...and to tell you the truth, its almost 7:30 pm and I'm still working. I've never been this busy since...uh! never! I'm usually done before 6 p.m. and just waiting for time to pass by so I can go home. But today is very different. As I'm waiting for a call from a candidate who has an interview tomorrow morning, I decided to write on my blog.

Well, I started my day in the office with the monthly meeting. And when I got back to my table, phones are ringing here and there. I was accessing 3 computers back and forth. And that's not all, my outlook crashed again for the nth time so I need to repair the pst file. grrr.. Those two should not take a leave at the same time.. aside from not having someone to laugh with and talk to and make chismis, I'm trap here with all this work.

Anyway, during lunch, me and rachel went to megamall to pay my credit card bill because its due today. We ate lunch at Tokyo Tokyo and window-shopped (of course that's what shopaholic do in a mall). I was even tempted to buy this long-sleeved top at U2 but heaven forbid me (thank God!) because its not part of their 50% OFF Sale. Probably God knows how much my 3 credit card bills will amount to next month after that shopping spree I made last month and at ESPRIT last Sunday.. (bought a bag and a shirt.. they are at 40% OFF.. couldn't help myself).

And so here I am at 8pm still in the office. The candidate already texted me and confirmed her interview tomorrow so I'm done for the day and will head home to watch the O.C. Bye!
