passport+havaianas+a new baby!

I'm not in hiatus nor on leave, I'm just so darn busy I can't believe its been more than a week since I last opened my blog. There's just so much work in the office, that I can't find the time to even read or visit one single blog site. And on weekends, I'm a domestic goddess! So by the time I enter our room I would rather lay in bed to rest my aching back than sit in front of the computer. So forgive me if I have been neglecting my blog for these past few days. It was not a choice. Promise.

So what have I been doing for the past week aside from working my butt off to meet my target? (which I didn't hit..didn't even 80% each 90%, argh!).

Well last week, I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs to update my passport to show my married name and also applied for AJ's passport ( just in case we push through with our Disneyland plans). I am so amazed how organized the people are in DFA, considering that they are a government agency and how efficient they worked and processed all those applicants. I arrived there at 6:50am and I was already their 00356 and 00357th applicant. I waited for about 20 minutes before my documents were verified and 15 minutes for the assessment and approval. I was done before 8 am which was a very big improvement because the last time I applied for a passport, it took me 4 hours to finish. But I don't want to wait in line to get our passport, so I just have it delivered in the office after a week.

I'm no havaianas addict, but sometimes circumstances has its way around me. At the time where I need to give in to my impulse just to make my self happy and forget about a bad day at work, I found myself falling in line at the entrance of the all flip flops store . I didn't know what the long lines was for, others say there's a sale (P100/pair.. are u kidding me!?). What the heck, I joined the line and when I was near the door, I found out that the line was for the arrival of the new design... the slim edition. I planned to buy one since I've already spent almost 40 minutes waiting for my turn. But then I saw this Havaianas baby sandals and was so excited to get AJ a pair... then I saw this high look flops in cafe color and I have to have it... hahaha! When it was my turn to pay at the cashier, I saw a slim flops in prata claro (silver) and got that too... when I left the store I have 2 flip flops and 1 baby flops for AJ. I don't call myself a shopaholic for no reason. Hehehe!

Speaking of baby, one of my newlywed friend, Kim is having a baby! I called her up out of the blue and not knowing that she's keeping a big news to her self. I'm so happy to give her my unsolicited first hand advices based on experience... and I'm already looking forward to the baby shower and the baby Q&As.

Those were the highlights of my week...I hope February will be more forgiving...

mid-month review

I can't believe it! The first half of January is over.. and I'm not yet even near 50% of this months target. Yes, I eat, drink and breath targets every day, every week, every month. I guess there are 2 things a sales person can't escape, taxes and targets. But at the end of it all, you look forward to that big chunk of commission at year's end. So ok... I won't rant about it anymore. But it does not change the fact that starting the year with a deficit means more deficits will come the rest of the year.. OH NO! Okay, its time to think positive....

Oh yeah, I already hired a nanny for AJ. She seems nice and is a mom herself so I'm hoping that she can do a good job (based on her personal experience). I also hope that our personalities jives and prays that she can handle the long lasting energy of my son.

Anyway, since AJ discovered that he can use his hands and knees to crawl.. he just doesn't stop. He's everywhere! So we decided to put the puzzle mat so that he can crawl whereever he wants to go. And now our bedroom looks like a nursery / kindergarten school. Starting his 7th month last week he was able to sit on his own already and stay seated with out any help. But sometimes he's wobbly and ends up face down in crawling position or falls on his side or back. I have yet to capture it in video but I will surely post it once I got it on cam... He's skills are developing so fast and I can't believe that it has been only 7 months and look where we are now... sitting on his own.

baby updates and peekchurs

Last December 22 (my birthday), I gave my family a portrait treat! We went to the Picture Company in Podium to have a family portrait and let AJ have his first photo shoot.
Thanks to Chelle (our photographer) for these wonderful photos. Don't ask how much I paid for my prints... cause I really splurged on this day...hahahah! Talk about impulse buying!

AJ also started on his solid food last month. He has been eating Gerber's squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, mixed fruits, oatmeal, mix cereal, applesauce, banana for a month now and liking it. He can't eat cerelac (nestle) because it has traces of soya according to the label..So AJ will be sticking to Gerber until he can already eat table foods.

His first milestone for the year 2007 is sitting up on his own (but falling down forward after a few seconds) and crawling. Early December at 5 months he was already scooting and started on solid foods. Now, early January and entering his 7th month on Saturday, he's crawling already... and he's unstoppable.. He's everywhere! He still continue to put everything in his mouth and continues to be curious. His gums are also swelling and we can already see his tooth starting to emerge. Will surely post his first tooth as soon as it comes out.

That's all for now.

domestic goddess

This new year brought new challenges to my life -- from my career to my family.
My nanny left. Yes, I consider the nanny as the most important person in a working mom's life. Because no nanny means no more after office coffee klatch with friends, no more night or early morning gym, more laundry, more domestic work, less blog time. And worst of all, I'm no domestic goddess... I don't even cook! I was used to my mom doing that when I was single. So the pressure is ON.
I had a test run of being a domestic goddess the day before new year's eve. And it sure was not the vacation leave that I had in mind when I decided to take a break before the new year. I did all the mommy duties (feed the baby, bathe the baby, play with the baby and put baby to sleep). Then I did the laundry, clean the house, cook (or should I say "heat the Christmas leftovers"), wash the dishes all in between other mommy duties (change diaper, play, feed etc). Hubby was a big help in watching the baby while I do my thing(s). I thought the day would never end. But soon after one task is done, then another... and so on...at the end of the day, when its time to rest my whole body and lie in bed , it was like heaven. I've never been so tired in my life.

New Year's Eve came and I said that I'll be preparing the media noche ... and I'm glad to say that my Mom gave her thumbs up on my spaghetti, macaroni salad, and super pizza. I guess I'm not such a bad at this, but I don't think I can do this domestic goddess thing permanently without sacrificing or giving up my career. And that, I'm not ready to do right now.
So, while I await to find my next nanny, I'm glad my mom babysits for me while I'm out for the day, working my a*% to get that promotion. And now, I no longer look forward for the weekends because it means.. I have to face the whole week's laundry.
