It's a weekend away from all the stressful activities relating to our upcoming wedding. Its time to relax before the summer is over. Though it has officially ended over a week ago ever since it started to rain and the first typhoon for this rainy season came last Thursday. Adrian and I left for Nasugbu after work and arrived there a little after 11:30pm. Before going to bed, we had halo-halo and Doritos (with salsa) as our midnight snack. We were worried that the rain might not stop till morning, but as we were watching the news, the weatherman said that the typhoon has changed its course and shifting directions to Japan and Korea. So we went to bed hoping for a sunny weather in the morning.
And true enough, the sun is up and alive the next day. We waited for Ezra, Butch and their kids to arrive for our island hopping in Batangas. Though the sun is up, the winds are still blowing hard, the "bangkero"(captain of a small boat) said that the waves are dangerous for a small "bangka" (boat). But then, Butch found another bangkero who was willing to take us to Munting Buhangin Beach Resort so that the kids could play at the beach and swim as well. While Adrian and Butch (with the other kids) went and talk to the bangkero, Ezra, her son Angelo and I, went to the wet market to buy some fish, squid, eggplant and ingredients for green mango salad that we'll bring to the beach. Everything has been prepared and everybody was set to go. We aboard the boat and headed to our destination. The water was alive though not as dangerous as the other bangkero described it, it was manageable.
The kids played, swam and build sand castle under the sweltering heat of the sun while the adults prepared the food. We cooked the seafood (all were grilled, even the eggplant), laughed and filled our day with relaxing conversation. I waited until 4 pm before taking a plunge at the beach because I forgot to bring my sun block. Stayed in the water for only less than 30 minutes because the waves are getting bigger and bigger.

We left the beach shortly after 5 pm and the wind is starting to blow stronger little by little. As the water splashes through and through our boat, swaying left and right. The bangkero asked us to balance the weight of the boat to avoid any accident. Last minute changes were made. As we went farther from land and swaying our way through the sea, in my mind ...I was praying to God.. "Bring us safely to shore, Lord". Saying it over and over and over until we reached the pier. I was so scared that my mind was racing, what if the boat turned over, what if I can no longer hold on, can I save the kid beside me when this boat flipped over. I just kept saying my prayer silently holding Adrian for comfort. And eventually the waves stopped and calmness takes in. It was a ride of a lifetime.
