A Prayer for Erin

I got a forwarded email from my friend Janess not knowing what "Livestrong Erin" meant in her subject. After I read the article taken from Inquirer online, My heart just melted and touched by baby Erin's story. I immediately contacted the source of the forwarded email and pledge for 2 baller id bands to help save baby Erin. Her story is too close to home since she and AJ are of the same age.

ISAIAH 43:1-5

1. But now, thus says the LORD, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. 3. "For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. 4. "Since you are precious in My sight, [Since] you are honored and I love you, I will give [other] men in your place and [other] peoples in exchange for your life. 5. "Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, And gather you from the west.
This is the passage from the Holy Bible that gives Sonny Pasimio, strength and hope in dealing with the condition of her daughter.... Little Erin.

The weekend that was

Weekend is my most awaited day of the week because I can finally spend the whole day with AJ. Giving him a bath, feeding him, playing and talking to him, lulling him to sleep and I even look forward to changing his diapers. I guess I feel this way since I leave for work early (he is still asleep) and when my husband and I arrived home, he is either sleepy or sleeping so we don't get a chance to play or talk to him. Since its a long weekend ( Monday was declared Holiday - Ninoy Aquino Day) I was glad to spend an extra day with AJ. Unfortunately, my cough and colds are as excited to infect me as I am to spend QT with my boy. Saturday went by with a breeze, but I can feel my throat aching everytime I swallow. I know what's coming so I took some medicine and drank lots of liquid and prayed that it will go away.

Sunday morning, before the crack of dawn, I felt it. Fever rising. Oh no! Not now! We're going to the airport to meet up with my father-in-law who's arriving from LAX with Brian (our nephew, son of my hubby's brother). So I drank the ever trusted Biogesic and slept (my mom took AJ from our room). When I woke up, the fever was gone but I already got the freakin' cough. As my husband drove us to the airport, he decided to take EDSA, since its a Sunday, it should be clear from traffic...NOT! it took us almost an hour to reach Boni from Ortigas (which only takes less than a minute when the road is clear). What caused the traffic? A billboard from the MRT station fell and its hanging across EDSA. It will surely be a horrible sight when this billboard falls over motorist..or worst! US! What a relief when we passed through it safely. They should stop placing those billboards near the road. It's a disaster waiting to happened especially during typhoon and earthquakes.Grrr!(I'll rant about this some other time)

Anyway, obviously we were late and Papa Jun and Brian already arrived. We just then decided to meet up at Duty Free. Was not really in the mood for shopping since I'm under the weather. Temptation was everywhere.. the pink and brown $18 Havaianas, the Lacoste polo shirt and Lacoste bowler bag...argh! i'm so ready to swipe my credit card...but nope.. I won't bite, I still have to pay that gold's gym membership. So I settled for some pistachios which is a must buy everytime I'm in DutyFree. Before parting our ways (The balikbayan's will be staying in Batangas while they are here), Papa Jun gave me Uncle Edwin and Auntie Mayette's Christening gift for AJ. It's a cutie Baby Gap shirt and jumper. Ohh.. I can see AJ in it.. sooo cute!

The next day, Papa Jun, Dandin and Tito Rolly came to visit us at the apartment to see AJ. And more gifts for AJ arrived ... a cutie Gerber spoon and fork and some disposable ones from First Years and these two adorable outfits from Carter's. Can't wait for AJ to fit into these. Thanks Papa Jun and Mama Ems!

I imagined how cute AJ would be in these clothes all night.. I actually forgot that I was sick.

a star is born

Was it a coincidence? fate maybe or just pure luck? Do you believe in destiny? Why am I asking this? I'll tell you the whole story:

Monday, around 11 am I went to have the photos that we took during AJ's 2nd month birthday printed at Photoline Galleria. When it was finally my turn, the attendant took my thumbdrive and open the pictures that I wanted to be printed. A petite lady standing beside me asked if the baby in the picture is mine. When I said yes, she asked if I am interested to have him try out for a commercial. I got tongue tide and dont know what to say, so I just smiled at her. I can't believe that someone sees my baby as a potential commercial model. I admit that AJ is a super duper cutie but I'm the mother and I am known to be biased when it comes to Andre pogi pot pot. Anyway, she gave me her card and told me to call her. As a closing note, she told me that she's the mom of Gabby something (I didn't clearly heard the last name). When I got to the office, I googled her name, Irene *****. And true enough there was a result which includes a Gabby in the snippets. He's the mother of Gabby *** (a prolific showbiz family).

I was still in disbelif. awe strucked. It finally sinked in when I told my hubby about it and he said, "Why not? Wala namang mawawala we try it". And so the next day (I waited for about 36 hours before I sent her a SMS ... don't want to show too much eagerness..hehehhe!) I asked her how shall we go about the commercial audition. And she replied that she'll inform us when the VTR can be scheduled and where.

Will my baby be a STAR someday? Let's wait and see if something comes out of this. A start of something big? Oh wait! I just remembered, this is not actually the first time someone offered AJ a taste of the spotlight. I was offered to pose for a portrait studio to be placed in their portfolio (entitled MOMS) with my belly exposed. So technically, AJ has a modeling experience already even when he was in the womb.

up close with Mclaren Mercedes

My Friday was a bit stressful in the morning. While I was on my way to the office, I got an sms from an officemate telling me that a lunch meeting with my "favorite client" (a callcenter) was set up (with out my prior knowledge) by one of our company's partners (a leading broadsheet) and my presence was requested. WHAT the f@#%! Its Friday and I'm in jeans and flats! It's a big NO NO for me to go to a client meeting not dressed in a proper attire. I can't believe this is happening to me right NOW, aside from I'm already running late for an hour (coz I played with AJ for too long..)I have so many things planned to do during my lunch break (personal aesthetics kinda stuff). Before agreeing to this lunch meeting, I have to make out a plan on how to accomplish both my personal and professional responsibility.

The Plan: prepare materials for the meeting-go to salon for a quick fix (ok fine! I'm having my underarm waxed :P)- buy a closed-heel shoes - go to meeting. Looks like a plan! So I replied to the message and told them that I'll join the meeting, but I'm in jeans because I was not adviced beforehand about this appointment.

Everything went exactly as planned. Glad to have received my new credit card (my old one expires next month) for I was able to purchase a pair of shoes from Celine. I arrived at the meeting place, Itallianis @ Mall of Asia and was so glad to see that even our client were in casual wear. Thank God! It sure is embarrassing if they are all in corporate attire.

The meeting went well and showed very positive reception on the services that we offered them. After the meeting, Marlon (an Account Manager from the Broadsheet partner) told me that some Mercedes cars were on display at the mall. I thought it was just the normal Mercedes you see on the streets of the metro, but when he said.."the one that Kimi drives"! I went overly excited..Kimi! the love of my life.. a Mclaren-Mercedes F1 car on display. Oh! I got to see this myself. I'm glad he asked me to come and even offered to take a picture of me with it. Oh yes, I was pretty excited. I only see this on TV and pics of it at F1 sites and whenever my friend Erwin watch a US Grand Prix (he sends us photos too). I have yet to watch a race, LIVE! I really wish my next out-of-the-country trip will be in Penang, Malaysia to watch an F1 race.

I guess I can say that my Friday isn't so bad after all. Except for the aircon of the car that went dead (again!) in the middle of our ride home while it rained. Thus, I was wiping the windshield from moist from Katipunan to Fairview. What a DAY!

planning for a baptism

AJ will be 2 months old this Sunday (maligayang bati, anak!). Sigh, time flies really fast, before I know it we're celebrating his 1st birthday. But before that! Let's get the baptism rolling. I am now busying myself with the planning of his christening. We already got a date, September 16. We really wanted to have his baptism on the day of our 1st Wedding Anniversary (Sept. 3) because my father in law is coming back from LA this August 20. Unfortunately, my brother who's in Singapore was not able to get an earlier flight so we have to move it on the 16th. I guess its also an advantage for us since we'll have ample time to prepare for this celebration. I have already reserved the date and the church, informed all the God Parents and what's left for me to worry about is the venue. Our ever reliable super friend, Ezra (who's also my wedding coordinator) will be sponsoring AJ's give aways and the invitations. She also suggested a venue in the Greenhills area which we'll be visiting this weekend and highly recommended a caterer that is with in the budget. I just hope everything works out well *fingers crossed*.

I was planning to make my own invitations prior to Ezra's sponsorship (with the help of Adobe Photoshop CS2). That I will send via email and print copies to be handed out. But when Misty referred me to evite.com (~ a free online invitation where you can choose a design or make your own and manage your guest list and RSVPs all in one place.~) I was so glad that she told me about this site. Its so cool and easy to use. Choose your design template or create your own and then just indicate your event title, host's name, date, location, some text message and recipient's email address and WHALAH! your done. What's nice is that you can import contacts from your email provider(AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail, MSN Messenger even from your Outlook). No more encoding all those addresses. And what I love the most about this site is its hassel free RSVP tracker. The guest just chose to either attend, not to attend or not sure and evite automatically updates the guest list. And sends reminder too to those who have not replied to your invites. This is so 21st century! hehehe and am lovin' it. Well, the only downside of this method of invitation is that you can't invite those guest who do not have an email account and are technophobic.

But over-all I rate this site with 4 STARS (5 being the highest).

eyes that bind

I'm not gonna rant about work because I'm so tired of it...So lets talk about AJ to keep my mind off work.

When I arrived home, I went straight to my mom's room where AJ stays for the night during weekdays. They were cleaning poop! I went to his side and showered him with kisses. As I was asking him what he did today, he was staring at me.. intensely. I felt like he was listening to every word I say. He answers back with gargles and coos. So I continue to talk to him and after a few seconds he started reaching for my shirt and when he was able to get hold of it.. he doesn't let go... as if telling me not to go and kept my face inches away from his chubby cheeks and wide open eyes. It was the first time that he stared at me like that when I speak to him. I felt like he knew and recognizes me even if I've been away the whole day.

Its times like this that I wish I don't work a 9.5 hours job so I can just be with him 24/7.

First Day

Wonder why I haven't posted a thing for this week? Its because I've finally went back to work after 2 months of maternity leave. It was like first day of school for me... excited to see my colleagues, hearing the latest office gossip, prepped for the new policies and reports to be done, etc... I realized how much I missed all these people, the laughter and mockings during lunchbreak, the in-between phone call chats, jokes at each others uttered words and/or embarrassing moments with clients. These are the reasons why I'm still here..working to hit our overly-humongous targets.
First thing I did was clean my cubicle. It has already accumulated 2 months worth of dust. As soon as everything was back into its place, I pulled out Andre's picture frame and place it beside my computer. Stared at it for sometime and said to myself..."I'm settled and ready to face my challenges for the day". My first day went fairly well. No irate customer assisted..(Thank God!)
I also didn't wait for the next day to inquire at Gold's Gym about their new rates. Before talking to their sales rep, I have already decided that I want to renew my membership. The only question is ... How much will this cost me? P14,500. ten sessions/month. valid for 1 year. Think, calculate...SOLD! I signed up the same day.
At the end of the day, I arrived home and Andre was already asleep. I miss him terribly. I was teary eyed when I watched him sleep. This is the first time that I have not held him for a day. And that made me even sadder. I just kept staring at him until my eyes can no longer hold up.
I hope the days to come will be much better.
