a month's worth of blog

Did you guys miss me? I surely missed blogging. Though I get to browse the internet everyday and logged in my online cribs (yes, I have too many of them), I just didn't feel like writing. But today, I finally found the time (and the inspiration) to do it.So this is a month's worth of blog, thus, expect it to be long. So if you're up to it, do read along but it not, just click on the back arrow of your browser.

Christmas of 2007 The family celebrated it in Manila where I cooked a Sardines Pasta. This is a copycat from Kitchen's menu. I'm proud to have been able to cook this from scratch without any recipe book at hand. And I'm glad no one had stomach ache the next day. Of course my mom made Christmas Ham, Leche flan and Salad. Christmas morning was the time to open gifts and made me realized that almost 2/3 of the gifts under our tree are all for AJ given by our friends, neighbors and relatives.

Death of Lolo Ben A bad news came in on Christmas Day when Hubby's grandfather died on-board an airplane to Los Angeles. They came to Manila to attend Jeremy and Lawrence's wedding last November and left for LA on Christmas Eve (Manila time) to spend holidays in the States but it was so unfortunate that people on-board the plane does not know how to do first aid on someone who was choking. You just want to scream at those people!Morons!

New Year 2008 Spent the New Year in Nasugbu, Batangas and I revived my Sardines Pasta since it was a hit during the noche buena feast. AJ got to visit his great grand parents, lola ina and lolo paco, and even received some pamasko (which went directly to the bank). Its been months since he last saw his cousin Abi so it was nice to see them play and get along like little bro and big sis. Also got our share of goodies from the balikbayan box that was sent by my in-laws from the States. Unfortunately, I had a fever the during the last day on 2007 so after cooking the pasta I slept through the whole new year celebration and the fireworks. I so guess I'll be sick and sleepy the whole year of 2008. Yayks!!!

Lolo Ben's Burial 5 days after New Year, we went back to Nasugbu and went to Bauan to attended the wake of Lolo Ben. His remains was flown from LA as the family decided to bury Lolo Ben here in the Philippines. I have never witness a close relative's wake since I was too young to remember when my lolo and lola on both sides of the family had gone to rest. So this would be the first for me. It pained me seeing all my relatives-in-law in tears and loosing a parent is for me an unimaginable feeling. I pray for Lolo Ben's soul to rest in peace. You are loved Lolo Ben. We'll miss you.

No More Nanny Nannies are so important in the lives of a working moms like me. They are the most important people next to my family. I thought I have treated her well (gave salary on time, gave her time-off when she asks, free food, free lodging). Showered her with gifts this Christmas: a mobile phone, new clothes, bags, accessories, my mom even gave gifts for her parents in the province. Then she asked permission to spend the new year and to attend her brother's wedding in the province. And so she left the same day we left for Nasugbu (December 29) and said that she'll return on January 5th. Hubby called her on that day and she said she's not coming back. WTF!!! After everything that we have done for her this is what we get in return? Life is so unfair!

AJ's got Baby measles "Why does this have to happened to me right now?" Is what I said when my mom told me that AJ got fever. Two days after we arrived from Bauan, AJ had erratic fever for 2 days which sometime reached 38.7 degrees. We brought him to the ER just to be sure that we are not dealing with Dengue fever here. I was advised by the doctor that they do not recommend any blood test to children that does not have high fever for at least 3 days. So we went home with no idea on what lies ahead. Good thing that on the 3rd day, his fever went down and was back to normal again. Then the next day, we saw rashes on his forehead then it was spreading around his face, neck, and back. My mom said it might be measles but I said he can't have measles because he had complete vaccine from day 0. We went to his pedia to have him checked just to make sure and I was glad to know that what he had was just baby measles or roseola that will clear in itself after 3 days. This is also the reason why he had fever a few days back.

While reading about baby measles, I came across an article by a Pediatrician Diane Sacks, she worte: "Roseola is contagious, but not very serious. I always thought the most serious part of it was the damage to parents' mental health: first dealing with the high fever; second, coping with a miserable child once the rash breaks out. My sympathies." I say she's so right about the parents' mental health.

Amazing Race Asia with Marc & Rovilson
I am a fan of Amazing Race but not the Asia franchise of AXN when it was launched. But in this season, I am so addicted to it and I'm so praying that Marc and Rovilson will be the first to arrive to the pit stop and win at each leg of the race... Go Philippines!

Now, AJ's well (Thank God!) and back to his toddler duties (messing the house and making my mom crazy). I'm back at work and more focused on my extremely high target for 2008 but still have no nanny. So please spread the word… I need NANNY ASAP! (hope she arrives on time just before my mom get seriously crazy).
WOW! I'm congratulating you if you have read this far. And thank you for reading ...
xoxo,
S
