ANNIE's (American comfort cuisine)

What a tiring day! We just concluded our team's planning for this Q2. Aside from the planning was held at a very 'planning' conducive environment (function room at Summit Ridge in Tagaytay), a lot of sharing, learning and brainstorming happened today. And I believe that we are going to hit another big time this quarter (positivity is the key to every success!) I just hope all our plans will be realized. But this post is not about the planning (why would you be interested in that!? haha!). Instead this is about what happened during lunch that surprised us all come the afternoon.

The story goes a little something like this:

After the morning session of the planning (which was on time as per our agenda schedule), we all went to the restaurant called ANNIE's (American comfort cuisine) by Cravings which is inside Summit Ridge. As I looked into the menu, I knew that this is such a pricey place.
But we still decided to eat here even if our allotted budget is only P210 per head. Sometimes we need to treat ourselves with expensive food since we work hard for the money. So we have all agreed to split among us the excess of the bill. And so we made our orders. The pictures in the menu was very inviting and I had a hard time deciding on a Blue Ribbon T-bone Steak (P465) or a Yankee Pot Roast Special (P490). The Pan Fried Salmon Steak with Mustard Cream(P575) is already out of the picture since the price is too much for me. So I settled with Annie's Cordon Bleu Chicken (P420). While my colleagues ordered the some T-bone Steak, Banana Walnut Pancake (P285), New England Corned Beef Dinner (P325). And so we wait for our orders.

We took pictures here and there to pass the time, others smoked and looked around the adjoining pool. After about 20 minutes, the waiter informed the others that the T-bone Steak is not available. How long does it take for an order to be placed and to be informed that what you ordered is not available? Shouldn't the waiter already know what's not available on the menu before they even start operating for the day? Okay, so we are very forgiving people so those who ordered T-Bone changed their orders to the Pan Fried Salmon, Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (P310) and Cidar Braised Porkchop (P320).

We wait again. The pancake arrived first, so we dig in and had dessert first. At first taste it was tasty, I can smell and taste the walnut, but then it was not soft ... it was crusty. After another 20 minutes, the Salmon arrived and my Cordon Bleu. the presentation looks good but when we started eating it. I knew that my Cordon Bleu was bad. I was expecting for a lingering flavor. The feeling of wanting more. Savoring the taste for a little bit more before swallowing. But all i got was a dry, chicken with melted cheese. A tartar sauce could have saved this meal but there wasn't any. Then I tasted the Salmon, its not the oohh so delicious! it was just okay. At least the fish had a mustard sauce unlike mine. I was near the end of my meal but the rest of the orders are nowhere in sight. 15 minutes after, The English Corned Beef Dinner arrived which was a bland. Followed by the Gumbo, which the sausage tasted like a locally processed Hungarian sausage. And the came the porkchop. Which I was not able to taste but they said that its okay. Then came the extra  rice.. We were all laughing because it looked like a half cup rice rather than 1 full cup. And it costs P25. I saw the face of my officemate (Shocked and wide eye!)  when he saw it and I couldn't stop laughing..

I was already saying to my officemates that I will blog about this experience and make a review. And we were already throwing in some comments on the food. Right after asking for the bill, a waiter handed to us a customer survey, which I gladly took from him and answered with all honesty what we thought of their food, their place and overall service.

We were back in our function room for the afternoon session when suddenly, a Chocolate cake was delivered to our room. So we said that we didn't order anything...but we have already speculated that it was from Annie's as compliments because we didn't like their food. So when the waiter came back, he is now accompanied by a supervisor, that explained to us about how sorry they are that we didn't like the food and thanked us for the feedback.

So the question is, am I eating at Annie's again? I think not.
