Woke up to a beautiful pink, blue and orange sky on board
PAL. Had a layover at Melbourne Airport which is not much of a scenery except
for trees that I saw around the airport before landing. After our 14 hours
flight (including the layover) we arrived at Kingsford International Airport in
Sydney. The taxi ride to our rented apartment in Coogee was pleasant and the
driver was pleasant and surprised that he has actually travelled to the
Philippines (Manila and Boracay).

The Apartment was chic and posh, minimalist and very
modular. I like it! But I was hoping for a beach view room but instead we had a
street view. But it’s okay. I can’t complain, I’m here for free and that’s what
matters. This is my home for the next 10 days.

Coogee. What I like about it, aside from the beach which is
walking distance, is that there’s a lot of restaurants to choose from…there’s a
beer garden, a food kiosk for those who don’t want to go through the hassle of
dining in, a wide array of menu from Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese, Chinese,
French, Mexican, burgers, pizza even gelato. And here, you can go and dine
even in your 2 piece bikini and just board shorts… ahhhh eye candy indeed.
Plus, the pace here is a bit slower than if we choose to live in the city. Of
course there’s no room service and we need to take out our trash everyday and
clean the kitchen, but I’m okay with all of those. I’ll be bossy around my two
housemates. That’s the plan. Haha!

Anyway, Hubby and I headed to check out the restos around
the Coogee Bay Area and since it was a Saturday, the beach was jam packed!
Kids, young adults, dogs, women sunbathing in the shore and on the park, half
naked men (woohoo!) even saw a man walking to his car in just his swimming
trunks. But its another continent so need of reminding that I am no longer in
Asia. Anyway, we ended up at McDonald’s.. you will never go wrong with some burger and
fries… and so I got my first Ultimate Angus Burger , fries and milkshake (We
should have this back in Manila--- the milkshake) and Hubby got some humongous
lamb burger and a smoothie.

After our late lunch, we went to Woolworth, my friend Jen
who’s now living in Perth, said to call it Woolies like the natives do. And so
Woolies it is. Bought some groceries, for breakfast, some fruits and detergent
for the washing machine….. And yes I bought TimTams and my favorite Cadbury
Blackforest which is not available in our local supermarkets.
We planned to go to the city after but was too tired and
just slept the rest of the afternoon. At dinner time, we headed to Coogee Bay
Road and check out some places to eat…after several stops and reading off the menu;
we decided to dine at Tropicana. He had Lamb Shank (Lamb again, really?) and I
had Chicken Pesto Penne which I was expecting to be just pesto and olive oil
with chicken but it had cream base on it instead of oil… but it was tasty. Of
course I had a few forkful of lamb that Hubby asked me to taste. I was good…
and then again I’m no lamb enthusiast.

It was a nice and very chill out first day. Tomorrow, Eric
(hubby’s colleague) will arrive from Manila, and so will my first city tour
starts.
