Surprise!

Opening my Gmail account at the end of the day has been a habit. Checking who sent me a message, how many are in my spam folder, has a new blog been updated etc. But today was different, I didn't saw it at first but when it came to the last 2 unread emails, I notice an email with a subject line: Pomeranz. I didn't realize who its from until I opened the email itself. It was such a surprise! Thanks David!

P.S. I just hope that David himself wrote this email and not an assistant.

worries...worries

My Saturday was a productive day indeed. Waking up again early in the morning on a Saturday is becoming a habit since it’s only during the weekends that me and Adrian focus on our wedding preps. Today we were set to go back to Chateau Royale to check on their actual wedding set up. There was a scheduled wedding reception at 12nn thus, we have to be there before the guests arrived so we can take pictures and show them to Ezra. (But won't be posting the picture here, so you guys will have more things to look forward to in our wedding diba?)

We arrived at the bus station at 8:30 am but unfortunately; there were no buses yet. So we waited for 30 minutes before we were able to settle in our seats. Its 9:30am and its just now that the bus is leaving the terminal. Gosh, I was praying that we’d arrive there in time for our appointment. Obviously we are running late, appointment was set at 10:30am and it was 11am already and we were still in Tagaytay. But finally we arrived around 11:15am and what a relief to hear from the guard that the wedding entourage & guest hasn't arrived yet. And so we headed to the lobby and Rachel (the sales rep) accompanied us to the ballroom so check it out.

Afterwards, we decided to eat in Max's Restaurant in Tagaytay. And by the time we have ordered its was starting to drizzle. The sinigang na hipon was an excellent choice for this kind of weather. After having lunch, we took a jeepney and a bus to get to Imus the rode a van to Festival Mall. Ella, (Ezra and Butch’s 2nd baby) celebrated her 2nd birthday at Jollibee in Festival Mall. Since all of Ella’s gifts will be donated to Batay Bata 163, they have asked us to bring some canned tuna instead of buying Ella a dress or a toy. So we stopped by Shopwise to get some tuna... different brands and different style of cooked tuna. I was wondering what the cashier was thinking when she started to punch in our basket of tuna and placed it in the bag. She might be thinking we were on tuna diet…hehehe!

After the fun and games at the party, we headed to Makati Medical Center to visit Lolo Paco (Adrian’s Grandfather) who was in surgery a few days ago. By the time we left the hospital the rain is getting heavier and heavier. So we just decided to forgo with our movie plans and headed home.

I’m so glad that my worries about our wedding reception end here. I will finally be able to have a good night sleep …but wait! There are so much more of be worried about, still have no priest, no choir, haven’t started printing those invitations, haven’t planned the honeymoon yet, we still need to do our wedding registry...and many more .. Oh, God help us.

turn back time

I miss the old me. Carefree and doesn't worry about next month's target because the sale are just constantly coming in and overflowing. I miss hoarding my sales order forms because I'm over quota for the month already.

I miss the Shopaholics. The after lunch window-shopping, which sometimes leads to credit card swiping.

I even miss Baet even though we still see each other everyday here at work. I haven't spent as much time with her as before when Kim and Maya are still here. Whenever I see her I'd say.. "Hi Baet, musta ka na? Miss na kita" seems like every time I see her, it's been ages since I've last spoken to her. We are both busy with our own responsibilities that I no longer know what's happening with her love life, what new gossips she have, I haven't even hear her crack a joke lately, nor hear her sing some commercial jingles. I sometimes don't get to have lunch with her anymore because I'm out of the office.

I wish I can turn back the time as it used to be, when all the petals in this big happy flower are intact. Right Maya?

Wala lang, daming pagbabago… nakakapanibago. I don’t like it.

Mixed Emotions

Weekend wasn't bad at all. I just stayed at home and was too lazy to attend yoga class so I just finish the last 6 chapters of Dan Brown's Deception Point. Another entertaining thriller from Dan Brown. Made me want to be an Oceanographer but then I really did not enjoyed science that much during elementary and high school. I guess the most interesting part of science to me was when I dissected a frog and removed his heart and after stitching him up, he still jumped out of the metal plate. Scared the hell out of me…hahaha! Okay, enough of that. Lets move on to 2005.

Anyway, my dad said that our wedding banns were announced in the mass that he attended early this morning. I was excited to go to the church and I even left the house earlier than usual so I can get a good seat and hear our wedding banns (which are announced before the start of every mass). Before, whenever I hear wedding banns, I always wonder what would it be like if they announce in public that I'm getting married. And today, I can't believe I'm hearing it. Honestly, I was so proud to hear our wedding banns being announced. It's like my moment has come. It's my turn.

Mixed emotions are coming in and out of me… excitement and weariness, elated and scared. I just hope I'm still sane come my wedding day.

shhh...quiet please.

Received this photo from an email sent by a friend with a subject line “Awesome photos of the year”. I don’t know for how long has this photo been circulating in the web but its always a refreshing thought to see that there are still good hearted people in this day and age of war, immorality, corruption etc.

Thanks for this Ellie.

mid-week vacation leave

Image hosted by Photobucket.comYesterday, I’ve sacrificed one of my not so many vacation leaves for our canonical interview in Batangas. We are done (finally!) with our church requirements. I just need to endorse the marriage banns to my parish so they can announce and post it in the parish office. Why is that required? Beats me. I’m just glad we’re over with those requirements and I can worry about other things. Hehehe, it aint over till Sept 3. Anyway, while we were in Nasugbu, we also applied for our marriage license. I thought we will get the license right there and then, but the civil registrar told us that, it’s the officials from the church will be the one to get the license when they are available. So we then went back to the office of the St. Francis Xavier Parish and submitted a copy of the application form.

We were supposed to attend a family planning seminar at City Hall but since we have attended a natural family planning session during our Catholic Engaged Encounter seminar, the registrar didn’t require us to attend anymore. I was so glad about it, since I will not be sacrificing anymore another vacation leave credit. Yehey! By 10:30am we are done with our business both in the church and city hall.

We hitched a ride with Adrian’s relatives who are going to Makati Medical Center to admit Lolo Paco. We went along with them to the hospital until they were able to get a room for Adrian’s grandfather. By the time we left the hospital it was past 5:30 pm.

Since I was sick last week and we were unable to do our regular Thursday Movie-Date-Day, we decided to have a movie marathon. We went to Glorietta and watched Batman Begins (6pm screening), had some sandwiches for dinner then head to the last full show of Mr. and Mrs. Smith (10:30 pm screening). Batman Begins was okie, in the sense that the movie gave a clear outline on how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman. Though I did get dizzy during the some action scenes where the camera was wobbly. Both movies were good but I enjoyed watching Brad Pitt beat the hell out of Angelina Jolie and vise versa. The very well choreographed fight scenes, high tech gadgets and the comedic antics of the cast (every now and then) during the movie made it worthwhile for me.

virus strikes back

My mind was ready to go back to work but I didn’t realize that my body isn’t until my fever came back just as I left my client’s office last Friday. I felt nausea when I reached the office and couldn’t focus on my work. After finishing some important paperwork, I decided to call it a day and go home. Called Adrian that I wasn’t feeling good so I have to cancel our movie date that night. We were supposed to watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Pitt & Jolie). But it was heartwarming to hear that he’ll just drop by the house after work to see me.

I arrived home around 1:30 pm and after eating only about four spoonful of food, I already felt full. With an icepack on my head, water and tissue within my reach, I was back in my sickbed. I felt sicker than I was 3 days ago. I can’t even bring myself to go to the doctor. I decided to just sleep it over and hope that when I woke up I’d feel a little bit better. Which I did, Thank God!

Adrian arrived around 7:30pm and had dinner with me. He brought me some seedless grapes and some tacos with cheese dip. After dinner he gave me a great massage to soothe my aching muscles. It was so relaxing that I actually fallen asleep. Adrian also fallen asleep beside me after giving me a massage. I asked him to just stay for the night since he seems so tired already.

The next day, (fifth day of being sick) after breakfast, Adrian brought me to the hospital to have me checked. They took my temperature, my BP, they checked my heartbeat, they took my urine sample and a blood sample too (which is still black and blue up to now). I was scared to what the result of the lab test will be since a lot of deadly virus has been in the news lately (Meningo, Malaria, Dengue). "Good News" was the first words of the doctor after reading my lab test results. My blood is clean from any deadly virus. What I’m experiencing is just a viral infection. Her diagnosis, acute rhinitis. After giving me my prescription and my medical certificate, Adrian and I went to the drugstore to buy the medicines and also bought some fresh coconut water.

When we arrived home, I was feeling a bit better already. We ate some of the tacos that Adrian brought yesterday and watched some episodes of Punk’d. Afterwards, Adrian headed home already.

I think that, Adrian’s mere presence contributed a lot for making me better.. And that, I can’t explain why.

under the weather

This weather hasn’t really been kind to me. The rain hasn’t stop poring since Monday and I’ve been suffering from the flu, cough, cold and muscle pain for the past 3 days. Might be due to the increasing stress level at work and/or for the wedding prep, I really don’t know. If before I complain of having a bad day at the office and wished to be just at home, lying in my comfy bed, reading a book or watching my favorite TV series. Now I wish I’m just having a bad day at the office and not curling in my sick bed.

I’m feeling a little bit better, though still had these irritating cough and flu, I hope to get back to my normal self before the week ends. I hope everyone at the office have a strong resistance form my virus as I plan to go back to work tomorrow. Hayy, wish us all luck.

Be healthy everyone! Thanks to those who wished me well.

a ride of a lifetime

It's a weekend away from all the stressful activities relating to our upcoming wedding. Its time to relax before the summer is over. Though it has officially ended over a week ago ever since it started to rain and the first typhoon for this rainy season came last Thursday. Adrian and I left for Nasugbu after work and arrived there a little after 11:30pm. Before going to bed, we had halo-halo and Doritos (with salsa) as our midnight snack. We were worried that the rain might not stop till morning, but as we were watching the news, the weatherman said that the typhoon has changed its course and shifting directions to Japan and Korea. So we went to bed hoping for a sunny weather in the morning.

And true enough, the sun is up and alive the next day. We waited for Ezra, Butch and their kids to arrive for our island hopping in Batangas. Though the sun is up, the winds are still blowing hard, the "bangkero"(captain of a small boat) said that the waves are dangerous for a small "bangka" (boat). But then, Butch found another bangkero who was willing to take us to Munting Buhangin Beach Resort so that the kids could play at the beach and swim as well. While Adrian and Butch (with the other kids) went and talk to the bangkero, Ezra, her son Angelo and I, went to the wet market to buy some fish, squid, eggplant and ingredients for green mango salad that we'll bring to the beach. Everything has been prepared and everybody was set to go. We aboard the boat and headed to our destination. The water was alive though not as dangerous as the other bangkero described it, it was manageable.

The kids played, swam and build sand castle under the sweltering heat of the sun while the adults prepared the food. We cooked the seafood (all were grilled, even the eggplant), laughed and filled our day with relaxing conversation. I waited until 4 pm before taking a plunge at the beach because I forgot to bring my sun block. Stayed in the water for only less than 30 minutes because the waves are getting bigger and bigger.

riding the waves with men

Image hosted by Photobucket.comWe left the beach shortly after 5 pm and the wind is starting to blow stronger little by little. As the water splashes through and through our boat, swaying left and right. The bangkero asked us to balance the weight of the boat to avoid any accident. Last minute changes were made. As we went farther from land and swaying our way through the sea, in my mind ...I was praying to God.. "Bring us safely to shore, Lord". Saying it over and over and over until we reached the pier. I was so scared that my mind was racing, what if the boat turned over, what if I can no longer hold on, can I save the kid beside me when this boat flipped over. I just kept saying my prayer silently holding Adrian for comfort. And eventually the waves stopped and calmness takes in. It was a ride of a lifetime.
